Sorocaja Cattery

Lulu and Mini Me daughter

Lulu's first litter

Living and working here on our property at The Heavens in Kangaroo Valley, has allowed me to pursue a long time passion, breeding and showing beautiful Siamese Cats.

I bought our gorgeous Cindylin Lilac Lulu, simply Lulu to her friends, an extremely elegant lilac tabbypoint from Robert and Melwyn Fleay’s Cindylin Cattery in Healesville in the Yarra Valley on the outskirts of Melbourne, as a surprise birthday present for my then 8 year old daughter Sophie, back in 2005. We all cried with joy, well I did anyway,  when Melwyn met us at the door and presented Sophie with this tiny lilac baby who was yet to grow into her ears. It was love at first sight!!

I became a member of NSW Cat Fanciers Association back in 2005 and applied for the breeding prefix, Sorocaja, soon after. The name came about from the combination of the first 2 letters of my family’s christian names, Sophie, Rob, Candice and Jan.

I showed Lulu for a short time with her achieving Champion status and now she is retired from the show ring and doing what she appears to absolutely love, birthing and rearing adorable kittens, with our help of course.

4 litters so far, with special thanks to Anne McNaughton’s handsome studs at Satiny Cats in Albion Park, one per year, and by the time these kittens spread their wings at 12 weeks of age and go off with their new owners, they are the boldest most affectionate babies you could hope for. Feedback from their new families is always very positive and they all have one thing in common, they quickly become the boss of the household and have everyone wrapped around their little paws!!! We have placed kittens locally in the Shoalhaven, Southern Highlands, in Sydney, Canberra and the Gold Coast.

Our latest addition is Sorocaja Cat Ballou, affectionately called Putu, from Lulu’s 3rd litter, a seal tabbypoint female has recently produced her first beautiful litter for us. She is much more comfortable in the show ring than her mother was, achieving Double Grand Champion so far. We look forward to her doing as well in the maternity stakes!!

Our girls live in the house with us, jostling for positions in front of the fire with the dogs on cold days and snuggling up in bed with us at night, with Lulu even leading her litters down the hall to our bedroom to join us when they are old enough. Oh what a good life these cats lead!! And we wouldn’t have it any other way.

We welcome enquiries from life long Siamese owners who have just lost their long time companions and are looking to help fill a void and we’d love to have a chat with potential new converts. Once you have a Siamese in your life, you will be absolutely hooked.
